ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆ, ತುಮಕೂರಿನ ಹಿರಿಯ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರರಾದ ವಿ.ಎಸ್.ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರನ್ (95 ವರ್ಷ) ರವರು ಇಂದು ( ದಿನಾಂಕ 15-04-2024 ರಂದು ಸೋಮವಾರ) ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ತುಮಕೂರು ನಗರದ ಜಯನಗರದ ತಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸದಲ್ಲೇ 2024 ರ ಲೋಕಸಭಾ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯ ಮತದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಇವರ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಕೋರಿಕೆಯಂತೆ ಆರ್.ವಿಶ್ವನಾಥನ್ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ಸಹಕಾರ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗವು 85 ವರ್ಷ ದಾಟಿರುವ ಹಿರಿಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಕಲಚೇತನರಿಗೆ ಮನೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಮತದಾನ ಮಾಡುವ ವಿಶೇಷ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿದೆ. ಅದರಂತೆ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವರ್ಗದವರು ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಭದ್ರತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಪರಿಕರಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇಂದು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗೇ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ನಿಯಮಾನುಸಾರ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿ ಬ್ಯಾಲೆಟ್ ಪೇಪರ್ ನೀಡಿದರು. ರಹಸ್ಯ ಮತದಾನಕ್ಕೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಎಡಗೈ ಬೆರಳಿಗೆ ಮಸಿ ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಮತದಾನದ ಬಳಿಕ ಮಡಿಚಿದ್ದ ಬ್ಯಾಲೆಟ್ ಪೇಪರ್ ಅನ್ನು ಕವರ್ ಒಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸಿ, ಸೀಲ್ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಅದನ್ನು ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರನ್ ಅವರ ಮೂಲಕ ಮತಪೆಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಇವಿಷ್ಟೂ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಡಿಯೋ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಯಿತು. ಸುಮಾರು 15 ನಿಮಿಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ನಿರ್ಗಮಿಸಿದರು. ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆ ಅಷ್ಟೂ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಯೇ ಒಂದು ರೀತಿ ಮತಗಟ್ಟೆಯಂತಾಗಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು!
ಇಂತಹ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಒದಗಿಸಿರುವ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗಕ್ಕೆ, ಇದನ್ನು ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ನೆರವೇರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ-ನೌಕರರಿಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಗಳು.

Our father, V.S. Ramachandran (95 years old), a veteran freedom fighter of Tumkur, cast his vote for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections today (Monday 15-04-2024) afternoon at his residence at Jayanagar, Tumkur city. As per his official request, R. Viswanathan accompanied and cooperated.
The Election Commission has provided special facilities to senior citizens above 85 years of age and persons with disabilities to vote from home. Accordingly, the election officers and staff arrived at our house this afternoon with necessary equipment under police security. Officers conducted all the procedures as per the rules and gave the ballot paper. Arranged for secret ballot. Put soot on the left finger. After voting, the folded ballot paper was placed in a cover and sealed. Later it was put in the ballot box by Ramachandran. All these proceedings were videotaped. After completing all these procedures in about 15 minutes, the officers left. All that time our house had become like a polling booth!
Our heartfelt thanks to the Election Commission for providing such a facility, and to the local officers and employees who are doing it neatly.
